Experience the world without leaving the North Penn area on Saturday, April 20 at the 22nd annual International Spring Festival to be held from 10 am to 4 pm at North Penn High School. The focus of the Festival is to celebrate cultural diversity in our community by honoring traditions of the past as well as educating the public to promote unity. "We are fortunate to live in an area that has such a culturally diverse population. We hold the International Spring Festival because we feel that by sharing and exploring our cultural differences through performances, food, and art, we can learn about each other and find the similarities that bring us together as one humanity," said Tom Meyer, Director of the Lansdale Public Library and Festival Co-Chair. To that end, the Festival will feature multi-cultural exhibits and vendors, a family health fair, an incredible smorgasbord of international cuisine, a show in the planetarium and fabulous performances of dance and music which will take place on four different stages and will include the always popular Voloshky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble plus world-renowned Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble. Specifically for the younger folk, there is the children's arts and education area which includes tasting food, trying on ethnic costumes and playing various cultural musical instruments. The kids can also participate in the Passport Program where they will learn fun facts about many different countries and earn a prize upon completion. Each year, the International Spring Festival takes place because of the generosity of sponsors and a strong volunteer effort. "The festival is made possible through the hard work of over 200 volunteers, thousands of dollars in donations from sponsors, and the time/services/products donated by our partners," Meyer said. This year's festival is presented by Lansdale Public Library and the International Spring Festival Committee in partnership with North Penn School District, Discover Lansdale, Abington Health Lansdale Hospital, The Reporter, and 1440 WNPV. Our sponsors include PDC Machines, North Penn United Way, Alan M. Gold - Wells Fargo Advisors, Whole Foods Market of North Wales, QNB, Your Community Bank, National Penn Bank, Mercy Suburban Hospital, Univest National Bank & Trust Co., Mr. & Mrs. Adel and Dee Riad, Merck & Co., Harleysville Savings Bank, Republic Services, Montgomery County Community College, Creative Montco, Hatfield Quality Meats, Crayola, and Christopher Dock Mennonite High School. Festival organizers anticipate more than 5,000 people to take part in this free event. For more information, please contact Tom Meyer at 215-362-2666 or director@lansdalelibrary.org
